Theodore J. Chiacchio (“Ted”) is an experienced intellectual property attorney, having been practicing intellectual property law for over 17 years. Ted gained years of valuable training and experience working in the New York and Chicago offices of three top-tier international law firms over the course of his first 15 years of practicing.
Ted is a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office-registered patent attorney. By both educational background and professional experience, Ted has become knowledgeable regarding a wide range of technologies, including, among others, mechanical, Life Sciences (medical, pharmaceutical, chemistry, biology, biochemistry), computer hardware and software, LED lighting, sensor/tracking technology, digital media networks, heating systems, and machine learning visualization platforms. Ted regularly prepares provisional and non-provisional U.S. utility patent applications and Responses to Office Actions. Ted counsels clients regarding a wide range of patent-related issues. Ted also has over 15 years of experience litigating patent infringement actions.
Ted also regularly handles trademark, trade secret, and copyright matters. Ted handles transactional matters in the trademark and copyright space, including preparing trademark applications and copyright registration applications and providing related counsel. Ted also regularly prepares licensing agreements and other contracts containing provisions relating to intellectual property rights. Critically, Ted’s litigation experience enables him to render these services in a way that heads off potential problems down the road. Ted’s litigation experience provides him with insight into the sorts of issues that could lead to litigation in the future and he take steps to address those issues up-front. Not all issues can be identified and addressed ahead of time though. When disputes arise, whether they involve theft of trade secrets, allegations of trademark or copyright infringement, disputes concerning ownership of intellectual property, or some other matter, you will want someone like Ted on your side who has spent over a decade and a half litigating intellectual property disputes.
Equally as important as Ted’s intellectual property expertise, however, is his genuine desire to obtain results for those who place their trust and confidence in him. Ted is dedicated, responsive, and takes the time to maintain an on-going line of effective communication with his clients.
When not servicing his valued clients and otherwise building out Chiacchio IP, LLC, Ted is busy, together with his wife, raising their two children. Ted is an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoys reading for leisure as well. Finally, to bring the focus back to intellectual property, Ted spends significant amounts of what would otherwise be down-time, writing articles addressing intellectual property issues and speaking on intellectual property-related topics.
